The Student's Photoclub presents the exhibition «Oi!» at Galleri Neuf (Chateau Neuf). The exhibition is still open today, 8 March Sun, 13 - 16 PM.

I found the Studentenes fotoklubb (Students’ Photography Club) a couple years ago while skimming through the list of student associations at SIO’s homepage. I knew there were a lot of student clubs in Oslo, but it seemed like all of them were Norwegian-speaking associations; and I did not want to feel awkward – or worst ‘at school’ – in a fun evening club. I wouldn’t even dream about finding a club that would make me bold enough not to care about which language I speak, really.

I contacted the club leader through Instagram, told her about some of my experimental photography projects, and she welcomed me to join their next Darkroom Monday. Einar Granum, the school I went to that time, had a darkroom, but it was the photography community I was looking for. I could find out soon enough that it wasn’t even necessary to have darkroom experience or have the best and most expensive equipment – this club was a meeting place for people interested in photography in the most diverse ways. This community was also about understanding, getting to know and cooperate with one and other. This club was about telling each other what happened to you during last week, this club was about bonding and knitting. Yes, that too! And this club is about all these things still today.

Here, in this post, I am going to share some snaps from our three group exhibitions we had since 2018; Destination (2018), The Night (2018) and Oi! (2020). The exhibition Oi! is currently on display at Galleri Neuf waiting for your visit.

Destination, Spring 2018

Details of my three works exhibited at the Students' Photoclub Exhibition "Destination" in the spring of 2018. The first picture above was taken in Budapest, at Nagymezo utca. The second (underneath) was taken in Torshov, Oslo. I almost froze, but had to take this picture with my camera. The third was taken in Berlin and shows the reflection of Carla in the rain. Used black and white film (AGFA, ILFORD)

The Night, Fall 2018

"New Year's Eve at Grünerløkka" (2017). I took a series of photos on the last night of 2017 using a Kodak Portra 800 in order to capture the mood of the night without using a flashlight. Just before midnight, I captured a group of people at Sofienberg Park, Oslo, waiting for the fireworks and the champagne. All three pictures I exhibited at the group exhibition "The Night" (2018) were taken on this night.

Oi, Spring 2020

Details from my three works from the exhibition "Oi!" that is still on display and can be seen today, 8 March Sun, 13 - 16 PM. All these three works are analog double exposures from Italy/Hungary. I used a special Revolog film where the images get a purple-is or yellow-is tone - depending on the developing and scanning. I ran through the film roll two times in my camera, one time in Italy and one time in Hungary. This means that there is both an Italy and a Hungary layer on all images. The best thing about this exhibition was that we shared a wall with my sister <3. Hope you can have a chance to check out our work on the way back home

from the Women's Day march! Happy Sunday and happy Women's day!
